General Motors likely to source Bharat IV engines from Sonalika

General Motors is likely to source Bharat IV engines from Sonalika Group which is manufacturing Bharat IV engines for its Rhino vehicle from technology sourced from UK-based MG Rover. General Motors has stopped selling Tavera in metro cities where the norms come to force. It is still selling Tavera in tier II & III cities and is selling around 1500 numbers every month, which has , which has not dropped.

General Motors commissions power train plant in Talegaon

General Motors India has commissioned its power train plant at its Talegon manufacturing facility making it one of the integrated production facility in the world. The power train unit has a capacity of 1.4 lakh units a year and had come up with an investment of Rs. 2500 million. General Motors has plans to launch 5 new vehicles this year, of it 3 will be LCV and two passenger cars (a small car and a sedan)

General Motors ties up with CSMCRI for bio diesel research

General Motors which has a plant in Halol has tied up with Central Salt and Marine Chemical Research Institute in Bhavnagar to conduct research on alternative fuels and jatropha based biodiesel. Further, CSMRI is producing B-100 jatropha methyl ester (neat jatropha biodiesel through an internationally patented process. GM has entered into a tri-partite agreeement with Gujarat and Department of Energy (US) for a US 950,000 project to produce biodiesel on wastelands in Gujarat. GM has already tested 6 vehicles for 50,000 kms using jatropha based biodiesel without any modifications.
