Tata Motors plans new assembly line for Nano in Pune


Anticipating huge bookings for Nano, Tata Motors is considering to put up a new assembly line at its Pune plant apart from its new plant in Sanand in Gujarat. It is expediting the construction of its new plant by using pre-engineered structures of Phenix Verco Pruden. It is also considering to use the land returned by Mercedes-Benz, which has moved to a new location. Much tough tasks are there at Tata Motors headquarters after the shift from Singur.

Tata Motors to increase production at Dharwad


Tata Marcopolo Motors, a 51:49 joint-venture with Marcopolo of Brazil is planning to expand its bus manufacturing capacity from 650 buses per month to 1200-1300 buses per month. The Dharwad plant which is making BPO favoured 30 seats bus and can manufacture only 12 tonne gross vehicle weight. It will increase the plant capacity of 15000 units per annum will be ramped up to 30000 units to manufacture ‘Starbus’ and ‘Globus’ range of buses. The company also offers new technology GPS, tracking, which is priced at Rs.8000 per unit is deployed as pilot project in 140 buses in Delhi and will become a standard fitment later.

Tata Motors launch Xenon- a lifestyle pickup vehicle

Despite economy slow-down, Tata Motors had launched Xenon-XT, a life-style pick-up vehicle. Xenon-XT is a 4-door, 5-seater pick up vehicle is to be priced at Rs.7.62 lakh for entry version to Rs.8.58 for the top end version. It will have 2.2 VTT diesel engine (140 BHP) of Tata Safari and expects to pull customers of Mahindra Scorpio Getaway. Initially, Tata Motors will produce 500 units a month.
